The above letter from HMRC is in reply to this Freedom of Information Request.
This is a freedom of information request.
In October 2005, a senior manager in the Tax Credit Office in Northern Ireland upheld a white Civil Servant’s complaint that an Asian colleague had (Believe it or not) ‘extreme political views’ because he had seen him on television heckling the British National Party (BNP) at a peaceful anti racist protest in Burnley. (The BNP being a vile Neo Nazi party who have sought to remove all non-whites and Jews from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and Civil Service as a whole). Later on, however, in a internal HMRC report dated 31 May 2006, headed, Equal Opportunities Investigation, a copy of which is attached, it states at 5.B.6,
“In our view it was wholly inappropriate for this matter to be included in a grievance complaint, both on the grounds that taking part in a lawful demonstration is not conduct that any reasonable person could object to, and also because there is no link to work.”
Under the freedom of information Act I wish to know the following:
1) How many HMRC staff have been subjected to internal HMRC grievance procedures after complaints from other staff they had ‘extreme political views’ for heckling the British National Party at a lawful demonstration outside of work in the last ten years.
2) How many who were subjected to internal complaints were Asian?
3) How many who were subjected to internal complaints were White?
4) How many found guilty were Asian?
5) How many found guilty were white?
6) If public funds was used to pursue these absurd complaints.
I emphasis I’m not asking for opinions just statistics in relation to questions 1, 2,3,4 and 5, and a straight forward yes or no in relation to question 6. This will ensure none of the information requested will lead to individuals being identified. As already stated, I attached a copy of the internal HMRC report entitled Equal Opportunities Investigation mention above for your attention.
Yours faithfully
